J.Jeff Hillard has been writing screenplays for the past several years. He credits three online UCLA Extension courses for helping him put screenwriting theory into practice for the first time. In 2009 he was twice a finalist in the innovative Co-write screenwriting contest. His comedy short "Boing!" won a Writers Boot Camp Fellowship Award sponsored by Creative Screenwriting Magazine at the 2009 Screenwriting Expo in Los Angeles. MUM Goes To Mars is a science fiction short that focuses on a reclusive senior citizen whose daily routines take a turn toward the barely plausible and certainly improbable, in a genre that has few main protagonists of advanced age, and fewer still who wear fluffy white bunny slippers with pink ears. He's currently at work on a feature-length action-adventure screenplay set in Asia.
